Delaney Dancing
Friday Dance Currently On Hold
The Covid Measures below are under ongoing consideration and can be considered indicative
This page lists specific measures being introduced to minimise the risk of Covid infection at the Friday Dance. In addition, please be familiar with our Covid Awareness webpage which includes links to Government and NHS websites. Thank you.
Your Health - If you develop Covid-19 Symptoms please don't come and follow NHS Guidelines.
Location - The main hall at Portchester Community School, White Hart Lane, Portchester, PO16 9BD. This is a large airy hall ideal for social distancing.
Access to the hall is via the front foyer and rear car park.
Schedule - When Dancing restarts it will be virtually every Friday (fingers crossed).
Timings - The dance will start at 7:30pm and initially it will end at 9:00pm (see Packing Away below). Doors open at 7:25pm - please don't come in early and please leave promptly when it ends. To avoid clusters of people gathering in the foyer if you arrive early please wait outside or in your car. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Payment - Cost £7.00. To protect us all, the handling of cash will be minimised and Delaney Dancing will operate a no change given policy. So please have the correct money to hand. Bank payment is fine too - beforehand please - bank details to be provided via email. Thank you.
Pre-Booking - Delaney Dancing is obliged to keep records and manage the numbers attending (maximum 30 people). Please email or text to let us know beforehand if you intend coming. In the same way if you have said you are coming, but then can't make it please let us know. Your help with this is much appreciated.
Format - A blend of Ballroom, Latin American and Sequence Dancing, with some line dances. It's not a teaching environment as such - but we are all a bit rusty - so if the moment feels right we may go over a Sequence or Line Dance.
Social Distancing - Thank you in advance for your help maintaining appropriate social distancing.
Social Bubbles From More Than One Household - This could be two solo dancers or two couples. You are very welcome on that basis we just ask that you follow Government Guidelines.
Seating - Please look to seat yourselves appropriately as per Government guidelines.
Hand Cleaning - Whilst we will be providing a hand sanitiser station we are also asking people to bring their own.
Communal Areas - These include: foyer, corridors and toilets - areas potentially used by varying groups. Whilst the school will include cleaning of these areas in its daily maintenance schedule, Delaney Dancing recommends heightened Covid awareness when in these areas (minimise touching of hard surfaces and hand washing after).
Toilets - will be available as usual - no more than two people are allowed in the toilets at any one time.
Refreshments - drinks will be available for purchase as usual, but Delaney Dancing stresses you are very welcome to bring your own...
Packing Away - To ensure sanitisation is accounted for, we don't need any help packing tables and chairs away - when you go please leave furniture where it is - thank you.
Short Notice Changes - Things might change and at short notice. We recommend that you check your emails before setting out.
Face Masks - The Delaney Dancing interpretation of the government guidelines is you do need a mask...
Your help supporting these measures is appreciated. Thank You

- Couples - fundamentally you come together, you dance together.
- Solo Dancers - for the purpose of a Friday Dance form a 'social bubble' dancing partnership with one other dancer, and dance together throughout.
- Social Distancing When Dancing - Please be alert - especially during dances that travel around the room.
- Coming & Going - please conform to social distancing guidelines especially in bottleneck areas such as doorways and if waiting outside, and don't forget the car park...
